Tetons Before Dawn - Canvas, Metal, & Acrylic

Typically you want to have directional light in landscapes. Typically. I'm over the moon for this, though. This was just before dawn. This was actually just a test image to see if this was where I wanted to set up. I didn't like it so I moved. It wasn't until I got home that I saw this and thought...wow. This was my first trip to Grand Tetons.
When the sun did finally hit the peaks, it was stunning. I was overjoyed to capture it and see it for the first time - certainly not the last. It's always the unexpected test frames that you really fall in love with.
There's no real light direction yet I see so much beauty and detail. I feel the cold stinging my exposed fingers and remember the excitement as we whispered around our group to find a better spot (because there was about 300 other people there at the same time). Even after the trek down the trail a little further, I still come back to this image. It's one of my favorites and is now the background on my computer.
