My name is Corey McDonald. I’m a photographer and artist based in Monroeville, Alabama, where small-town life, back roads, farmland, and the natural world have shaped the way I see and create. Long before photography became my profession, I was paying attention to animals, light, and quiet moments most people pass by. That habit never left.
I’ve spent over a decade as a professional photographer, and that experience carries into everything you see here from patience, observation, and respect for the subject in front of me. Whether I’m working with wildlife, landscapes, or agricultural scenes, my goal is not to embellish what already exists, but to honor it as it is.
Much of this work comes from time spent alone with a camera — walking fields, watching behavior, waiting on light, and learning when to slow down. It’s in those moments that I’m reminded how much intention exists in creation, and how little needs to be added to something that was already designed with care by God.
That having been said, I cannot deny that I love the creative process of making an artistic scene out of different elements that I have photographed. It's like telling a story but with a tablet and a screen rather than with words. Like "Resting Wolf." Her name was Shasta and her eyes told a story that words can't comprehend. It's in those eyes that I see the art of what I could make.
