The sun was already hiding behind the mountains on this late afternoon when this bull emerged from over the ridge and strutted his way along. We stopped, he posed, and then he left. It was interesting. This was my first encounter with an elk in my life and one of his tines was broken off. I always loved the backdrop of the mountain behind him.
I got out of the van and the people I was with joined me on the pull out to photograph him. It was a rarity to see an adult bull elk on his own on this adventure in Yellowstone and the environment was a perfect setting for such a capture.
Available as a print or float framed canvas.
