Stare Down with a Wolf - Print, Canvas, & Acrylic

Montana wolf - name unknown - at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana. Not very active on this visit, we had a stare down as I knelt down and focused in. The light was gorgeous on that fur. I typically don't like that kind of thing in my wildlife imagery but it totally worked out here.

I had thought at the time that I'd get something active - they are wolves, after all. Incredibly social creature. Sadly, it was mostly nap and rest time all around the center. I was still able to photograph pieces for the artwork side of my collections but this image was going to be a throwaway. It's that gaze, though. It's a gaze I didn't really notice until I got home a few days later and started combing through what I had captured.

It was looking right at me, right through me, and it's perfect just the way it is.
