I had this idea in my head of a studio-like setting with a digital fine art painting of a wolf. The background was muslin and styled in the "old master" painting techniques with features of nature. When I saw the images of Bridger, one of the wolves at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana, I thought of this scene immediately and knew it had to be made. So this is a combination of two images of the wolf. One with his head turned as you see here and the other of him walking. Both images were from the same movement but not with that paw up mid-step. So I combined the two. I then used some of the trees that were surrounding the cabin we stayed in and used a background painting technique to create the muslin-like abstract detail in the back. Then finished the digital painting out with some custom brushes in Photoshop.
I have this hanging in my living room - looking at it right now as I type. It's one of my favorites that I've done and, as always, it's Bridger. It's only natural that he's my wolf muse. He almost always gives the best poses and expressions, although he was being lazy on my last trip.
Available as a framed fine art Torchon print or a Canvas.
